We Must Dream It Before We Can Create It

When setting intentions, it is crucial to fully immerse yourself in the vision of your desired reality. This process is not just about outlining goals or aspirations, but about embodying (roleplaying in your mind) the energy of the version of yourself you are creating.

This is why you will be writing out all of your answers in the present tense, as if you are speaking about your life right now.

Allow Yourself to Be Delusional

This is a time to dream gigantic, do not let any beliefs about money, relationships or your current circumstances hold you back from imagining what your highest timeline looks and feels like. The things that you write down may come true but you may realize along the way that you want something slightly different. That is okay, it is a process. This practice is designed to help point you in a direction where much of what you write is possible to come to fruition.

Before you begin, align with the highest version of yourself. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Take a few moments to breathe deeply into your Belly.
  2. Envision yourself in your dream life; Where are you? Who is around you? How do you feel? What do you smell? What do you hear?
  3. Embody that version of yourself. Imagine you are living that dream life now. Become that version in your imagination.

This powerful act of visualization can help to align your thoughts and actions with your intentions, making them a tangible reality. You're not just dreaming of a future self, but creating a new trajectory for your life.

Now you are ready to begin answering these questions.

During times when you find yourself wrestling with difficult emotions, it can be beneficial to seek out moments of quiet reflection. One effective approach is to use the power of crystals during these moments. To do this, simply choose a crystal that resonates with your current need, sit quietly in a comfortable place, and hold the stone in your hand.

As you hold the crystal, focus on taking slow, deep breaths. Feel the air fill your lungs and then gently leave your body as you exhale. As you breathe and hold your chosen stone, allow yourself to focus on the specific energy it embodies.

You might find it helpful to use the following prompts, associated with each crystal, to guide your thoughts during this process. Truths that Transform: You Deserve to Take Up Space as Much as Anyone https://fountainofawe.com/2023/06/05/truths-that-transform-you-deserve-to-take-up-space-as-much-as-anyone/ Mon, 05 Jun 2023 21:43:39 +0000 https://fountainofawe.com/?p=207 In our journey through life, each one of us navigates an intricate dance of interaction and co-existence with others. At times, we might find ourselves apologizing for simply being in a space, perhaps unintentionally getting in someone's way, or taking a moment longer than we think we should. But have you ever paused to reflect […]

The Apology Reflex Imagine this: you're in a grocery store, in front of a beautiful array of apples. You're deciding which ones to take home, weighing their freshness, their size, and their color. Suddenly, you sense someone behind you, waiting for their turn. Do you apologize and rush your decision, even though you have every right to take your time? Such unnecessary apologies are subtle indications of a deep-seated belief that we're inconveniencing others by simply occupying space or time. It is as if we're saying, "I'm sorry for existing in this space. I'm sorry for being in your way."
Understanding Your Right to Space
The truth we need to embrace is this: you, like anyone else, have a right to take up space. This is not a privilege granted to a select few but a fundamental right inherent to all human beings. You exist, therefore you have a right to be here, in this moment, occupying space and time. Apologizing for existing in a space or taking up time reflects a subconscious negation of this right. It's a form of self-minimization, a habit often borne out of societal or personal pressures and insecurities. But it's a habit we can unlearn.
Overcoming the Apology Reflex
How do we break away from this habit? The first step lies in self-awareness. Notice when you're apologizing unnecessarily. Observe the situations and interactions that trigger this reflex in you. The next step is affirmation. Remind yourself of your right to take up space. Affirm your worth and your existence. Whether you're selecting apples in a grocery store, expressing your opinion in a meeting, or merely being present in a public space, you have every right to be there, without apology.
Assert Your Presence
The final step is to practice asserting your presence. Slow down, don't rush. Give yourself permission to take the time you need, whether you're making a decision, completing a task, or simply moving through the world. Acknowledge the space you occupy and the value you bring into it. You don't need to shrink yourself to accommodate others. There's enough room in this world for each one of us to exist without encroaching upon the rights of others.
Conclusion: Embrace Your Existence
Understanding and accepting your inherent right to take up space can be liberating. It instills a sense of self-worth and confidence that permeates all aspects of life. As you let go of the apology reflex and embrace your space, you begin to live more authentically, allowing your unique self to shine. So, the next time you find yourself at the grocery store pondering over apples, remember: you have as much right to be there, in that moment, as anyone else. Take your time, claim your space, and never apologize for merely existing.

Truths that Transform: People are Not thinking about you very much https://fountainofawe.com/2023/06/05/truths-that-transform-people-are-not-thinking-about-you-very-much/ Mon, 05 Jun 2023 21:17:25 +0000 https://fountainofawe.com/?p=202 The human mind is fascinating. It's an intricate web of thoughts, perceptions, and emotions, mostly centered around one primary subject: ourselves. Understanding this simple yet profound truth can significantly alter our perspective, freeing us from the constraints of others' opinions, especially when we make decisions that shape our lives. The Inward Gaze: A Survival Mechanic It's no secret that we, as humans, spend the majority of our time contemplating our own lives. From survival-driven considerations such as our health and safety to introspective ruminations about our dreams and fears, our minds are predominantly preoccupied with ourselves. This self-centric thinking pattern is not a sign of vanity or self-absorption. Instead, it's a deeply ingrained survival mechanic that has evolved over centuries to help us navigate the world.
A Cascade of Projections
Understanding our self-focused tendencies also sheds light on the nature of opinions. When people form an opinion about us, they do so based on their own perceptions, experiences, and biases. Essentially, they're viewing us through the lens of their own self-centric thinking. This realization can be incredibly liberating. It highlights that people's judgments of us are often less about who we are and more about who they are and how they perceive the world.
Freeing Ourselves from Others' Opinions
Realizing the self-centric nature of our minds can significantly diminish the weight we give to others' opinions in our decision-making. Instead of being swayed by what people might think or say, we can make choices that align with our values, aspirations, and personal growth. Consider this: the time and energy that people spend thinking about us are far less than we might imagine. Just as we are engaged with our own lives, they are absorbed in theirs. The opinions they form of us, when they do, are fleeting thoughts amidst the whirlwind of their own concerns.
A Call to Empathy
Understanding the inherent self-focus of our minds also invites us to consciously cultivate empathy. It challenges us to consider others in their own right, independent of our perceptions or experiences. As we develop this ability, we find ourselves less influenced by others' opinions and more attuned to our inner voice, guiding our decisions.
Embracing the Truth for Empowered Decision-Making
Embracing the truth of our self-centric thinking can lead to a transformative shift in our lives. It frees us from the shackles of external opinions, allowing us to make decisions with authenticity, courage, and conviction. Remember, the most critical voice in your life is your own. As you understand the human propensity for self-focus, you'll find the power to transcend the noise of others' opinions. In doing so, you take a significant step towards making decisions that reflect your unique journey, desires, and aspirations.

The Dynamics of Projection A fundamental principle in psychology, the Projection Principle, suggests that individuals tend to project their feelings, beliefs, and experiences onto others. In the realm of opinions, a person's judgment of you is often less about your qualities or actions, and more about their own experiences, biases, and unresolved issues.
Favorable Opinions: A Mirror to Their Past
When people have a positive opinion of you, they're likely seeing you through the lens of their past positive associations. You might remind them of a beloved relative or a respected mentor, thereby earning their favor. While such approval can feel validating, basing your decisions on these positive opinions can be misleading. These people are essentially responding to a reflection of their past, not necessarily to your authentic self.
Negative Opinions: Echoes of Their Hurts
Conversely, when people form a negative opinion of you, it's often because you remind them of a negative past experience or someone who caused them pain. It may be the way you talk, a certain habit you have, or simply your demeanor that triggers these memories and biases. These negative opinions, though they may feel personal, are generally not an accurate reflection of your worth or capabilities. Making decisions based on such views can lead you down a path that is misaligned with your true values and aspirations.
Emotional Triggers and Decision-Making
Our decisions should not be influenced by the emotional triggers of others. These triggers, rooted in people's past experiences (especially during formative childhood years), shape their opinions of you. An emotional reaction from someone else towards you could be a sign of these triggers, and it's crucial to understand this dynamic when considering others' opinions in your decision-making process.
Own Your Decisions
Your decisions should not be held hostage to other people's opinions. You can't control others' biases, emotional triggers, or their past experiences – the factors that significantly shape their opinions. Instead, focus on what you can control: your reactions, your attitudes, and, most importantly, your decisions.
Empowering Yourself
Understanding that other people's opinions are often projections of their experiences can free you from the constraints of trying to meet their expectations. This doesn't mean you should ignore all feedback – constructive criticism can be valuable for growth. However, it's vital to differentiate between objective feedback and subjective opinion. Each person views the world, including you, through their unique lens crafted from their experiences and emotions. A negative opinion about you is likely a reflection of the person holding the opinion, not an objective truth about who you are. Embracing this perspective can empower you to make decisions based on your self-knowledge, values, and aspirations, rather than being swayed by the unresolved issues or biases of others. In the end, being true to yourself in your decision-making fosters authenticity and ensures that the path you walk is genuinely yours. So, listen to others, but hear your own voice the loudest. It's your journey to embark on and your story to write.

Truths that Transform: The Stories We Tell Ourselves Shape Our Reality https://fountainofawe.com/2023/06/05/how-the-stories-we-tell-ourselves-shape-our-reality/ Mon, 05 Jun 2023 19:40:59 +0000 https://fountainofawe.com/?p=190 Our lives, in essence, are a grand narrative. Our joys, trials, triumphs, and failures all contribute to the storyline that we develop over time. We are the authors of our life's story, and our inner narrative has the power to dictate the reality we perceive and ultimately live in. This might seem like an overstatement, […]

The post Truths that Transform: The Stories We Tell Ourselves Shape Our Reality appeared first on Fountain of Awe.

]]>
The Science Behind Self-Narratives Let's start by understanding the science behind the concept of self-narratives. Our brains are natural story processors, not simple data processors. This is how we make sense of the world, understand complex situations, and make decisions. This is seen in the Schema theory, which suggests our minds create mental frameworks, or 'schemas', to help us process information efficiently. Our schemas are heavily influenced by our experiences, cultural backgrounds, and personal beliefs. Neuroscientists have found that recounting a story, especially a personal one, activates various areas of the brain. When we tell ourselves a story, the brain does not differentiate between imagining an event or experiencing it in reality. This is due to a process called 'neural coupling', where the listener's brain patterns start to mirror the storyteller's brain patterns. This shows the extent to which our self-narratives can shape our experiences.
The Power of Perception
"Reality" is an objective state of things as they actually exist, but our experience of it is inherently subjective. It is perceived through the lens of our individual understanding, which is heavily influenced by our personal narrative. This is why two people can witness the same event but interpret and remember it differently. Our self-narratives do more than just catalog our past experiences; they shape our perceptions of future events. If we tell ourselves a story where we are the victim, we start perceiving events around us from a victim's perspective. On the other hand, if we believe that we are capable, strong, and can overcome challenges, we are more likely to act in ways that affirm this belief.
The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy
The stories we tell ourselves can sometimes lead to self-fulfilling prophecies. This is when our belief about a situation affects our behavior, which makes the situation unfold in a way that confirms our original belief. For instance, if someone continually tells themselves they're not good at public speaking, they may feel more nervous when they have to speak in public, possibly leading to a poor performance. This, in turn, strengthens their belief that they are indeed bad at public speaking.
Changing Our Narratives
The good news is, since we are the authors of our stories, we also have the power to change them. Through techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), we can learn to identify and challenge our negative self-narratives and replace them with more positive and empowering ones. This shift in our internal narrative can lead to significant changes in how we perceive and interact with our reality. In conclusion, the stories we tell ourselves can have a profound impact on our perception of reality. They can shape our behavior, influence our decisions, and even dictate the course of our lives. However, the power to change our narratives lies within us. By becoming aware of our self-narratives and actively working to change them, we can fundamentally transform our experience of reality.

The Awakening

In the labyrinth of my mind, there once roamed thoughts and patterns that served no good, entrapping me in a web of negativity. In my quest for liberation, I discovered the transformative power of holotropic breathwork. This therapeutic practice uses specific breathing techniques to access altered states of consciousness, guiding you on a path towards self-healing and growth.

The Preparation

But my journey was not a passive one; it required conscious preparation and active participation. An essential aspect of practicing breathwork is setting an intention. By starting my sessions with a clearly defined purpose, I was able to anchor my experience and provide direction to my subconscious mind. Equally important is the environment. Ensuring I was in a safe and comfortable place was crucial in fostering an atmosphere of openness and vulnerability, allowing for deeper exploration of the self.

The Experience

Another crucial factor is giving yourself the freedom to fully engage with the experience. During my sessions, I allowed myself to move, cry, vocalize, and confront thoughts that I might ordinarily resist. This complete surrender, this wholehearted permission to embark on the ride without any judgement or reservation, amplified the effectiveness of the practice.

The Transformation

Among all my breathwork sessions, the 'Othertrip - Inner Child: Guided Breathwork for Transformation' (28 Minutes) significantly marked my transformation. This unique practice, with its potent blend of breathwork and visualization of the inner child, ushered me into an intimate space to replace my fearful programs with those of love and acceptance.

The Inner Child

The most poignant part of this journey was the visualization of my inner child. Encouraged to offer warmth and compassion to this version of myself, I felt layers of fear and negativity peel away, replaced by an empowering sense of love and self-forgiveness. Revisiting this session repeatedly, I experienced an evolving freedom, an awakening vibrancy, and a blossoming joy that was truly transformative.

The Decision

Yet, this path isn't for everyone. It's a profound, intense exploration of your inner psyche, requiring a courage and openness to encounter and embrace the deepest parts of yourself. Use your best judgement and decide if you're ready for this transformative journey.

The Recommendation

However, if you feel stuck, yearning for change, I sincerely recommend giving holotropic breathwork a try. Remember, you're capable and ready. Harness the strength within you and step onto the path of self-transformation. You've got this.

The Beginning

Before you start your transformative journey with the 'Othertrip - Inner Child: Guided Breathwork for Transformation', take a moment to prepare yourself. First, set aside an hour of your time, dedicating this space solely for your healing process. Secondly, find a safe and comfortable place where you can be alone, allowing yourself the freedom to express your emotions and thoughts without any inhibitions. Lastly, position yourself comfortably, preferably laying back, and start your breathwork. As you breathe, remember that you are safe, you are loved, and you are about to embark on a deeply healing journey. Now, you're ready to begin.

Time to Heal:
The Final Note

And so, as you potentially embark on your journey, I'm sending you immense love and strength. Believe in yourself, just as I believe in you, and know that you have the power to change your life, just as I did.
